Reasonable Accommodations and Support
Students may be eligible for reasonable modifications related to pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, and related medical conditions. Modifications are individualized and may include:
- Excused absences for pregnancy-related medical appointments, labor and delivery, recovery from childbirth, or other pregnancy-related conditions.
- Extensions on exams, assignments, projects, and other coursework impacted by pregnancy or related conditions.
- Opportunities to make up missed coursework due to pregnancy-related absences.
- Reasonable breaks during class or testing for health, lactation, or other pregnancy-related needs.
- Other individualized modifications as appropriate.
Pregnancy-related conditions may include pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, termination of pregnancy, recovery from pregnancy-related medical conditions, and other related health concerns.
Reasonable modifications are determined through an interactive process based on the student's specific needs. Students seeking assistance should contact the Title IX Office.
Documentation Requirements
The applicable office may request medical documentation on a case-by-case basis to assess eligibility for accommodations. Documentation requests will be limited to information necessary to confirm the pregnancy or related condition and the need for reasonable accommodation.
Office of Title IX
The Office of Title IX will review requests for reasonable adjustments related to pregnancy and parenting needs.
Office of Accessibility Services (OAS)
Department of Student Support and Transitions Will review requests for medically required accommodations related to pregnancy-related conditions.
